Project Mercury, 50th Anniversary of Third American to Orbit Earth
The postmark on this cover commemorates the 50th anniversary of the 3rd American to orbit the Earth. Wally Schirra completed 6 orbits aboard the Project Mercury "Sigma 7" space capsule on 3 October 1962. His total flight time was 9 hours and 13 minutes.
