Le Bardo, Tunisia

From the Tunisian city of Le Bardo, west of Tunis. An assortment of stamps with different themes. Across the top are freedom fighter Mosbah Jarbou from a Famous Tunisians set from 2002, a common poppy from a 1999 Flowers of Tunisia set and a 2018 stamp commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Tunisair. Along the bottom are a 2001 stamp featuring 19th century tiles from an Archaelogical Sites and Monuments of Tunisia set and a 2005 stamp showing a Hammam Sousse Takhlila from a set depicting Tunisian attire.

RV Polarstern 40th Anniversary

German research icebreaker Polarstern was put into service in December of 1982. The postmark commemorates the ships 40 years of operation in the Arctic and Antarctic for the Alfred Wegener Institute. The stamp from 2001 commemorates 100 years of German Antarctic research.

Algerian Achievements

This stamp sheet commemorates a project to "split" a section of the Algerian N-01 highway that runs north to south through the country (to me, splitting would imply separating traffic lanes, but perhaps this is something different). Looks like it was a fairly large project that included 35 bridges and 3 tunnels.

GREA Karupelv Valley Expedition 2022/23

Sent from members of the GREA (Groupe de Recherche en Ecologie Arctique) Karupelv Expedition of 2022. This was their 35th expedition to the Karupelv valley in East Greenland to study and monitor the ecology of the area. 


This was posted from the remote eastern Greenland community of Ittoqqortoormiit. To help fund their missions, GREA produce covers and for a fee will have them sent to you from the expedition. The stamps, clockwise from top left are Europa 2022, a 2020 School Savings stamp, 1978 Centenary of the Scientific Research Commission, and Queen Margrethe II from 1985.

Kuroiso in Tochigi prefecture, Japan

Nice little 2023 year of the rabbit souvenir sheet from the former city of Kuroiso in the Tochigi prefecture in central Japan, north of Tokyo. Kuroiso was merged with two other towns to create the city of Nasushiobara in 2005.

Montevideo, Uruguay

Postmarked at the post office in the Centro barrio in Montevideo. The 2008 sheet on the left commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Uruguayan Association of Artisans. Top right from 2019 commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. And the little triangle stamp below that from 2009 shows a common lantana: a flowering plant commonly found in South America.

From the Latvian capital city Riga. On the left is a stamp from 2017 commemorating the launch of the first Latvian nano-satellite, Venta-1. And on the right is a 2018 stamp from the annual series "Unique Exhibits of the Latvian Museum of Natural History". This stamp features the mineral Gypsum.
