The stamp and cover, postmarked in Hwaseong City, commemorates the World Island Exhibition held 5 September to 4 November in the South Korean port city of Yeosu. There are three official expo sites on three nearby islands but there are events on a number of other islands also, all connected by bridge and ferry links. The theme of the exhibition is "Islands, connecting the oceans and the future".
