This stamp is part of a series that shows before and after images of famous places in Germany. On this stamp is Frauenkirche in Dresden. It was destroyed by allied bombing during WW2. The stamp shows a famous image of the church ruins from 1957 on the right. And a modern image of the restored church in 2015 on the left.

Thank you for your posting. The restored church is beautiful inside and outside. The story of how the people of Dresden stood against the authorities for wanting to level the site and make a parking lot is very moving.
