Where do you send your letters for TAAF?

Do you mention in letter which island cancellation you want on them like Kerguelen or Crozet?

I'm working on a small webpage with the addresses since they are hard to come across on the internet. You can try emailing the TAAF Philatelic office at taaf-philatelie@orange.fr and ask. They should be able to provide you with all base addresses in TAAF.

I have found this address for TAAF on web;

MR. LE GRANT POSTAL,
BASE DUMONT DURVILLE,
DISTRITO DE TIERRA ADELIA,
TERRES AUSTRALES ET ANTACTIQUE FRANCAISES,
BP 400, 97458 SAINT - PIERRE CEDEX,
REUNION, FRANCE

Let me know if I can help you in finding or building your information on addresses.

On my side I have also done an extensive search from last month till now and found good amount of addresses from Arctic and Antarctic but only these need to be verified.

I don't know if that address to Dumont d'Urville will work. Maybe. "DISTRITO DE TIERRA ADELIA" is Spanish. The address I got from the TAAF philatelic office is:

M. le Gérant Postal
Base de Dumont d'Urville
District de Terre Adélie
TERRES AUSTRALES ET ANTARCTIQUES FRANÇAISES
Via Orly CTC OM

I assume you would send this to France. Orly CTC OM is the Orly airport overseas mail processing center.

I have not received any covers back from TAAF using this address though. Still have to wait and see.

Have you sent covers to India's Antarctic Base, Maitri?

Now thats a good question.....

I have not yet started sending any covers to any base because of 2 reasons....1. Last 2 months I have been busy gathering information about Polar Philately and I have 12 pages of address info from Greenland, Norway, France, AAT,BAT, US Base, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina.......

Some info is genuine as these are sent by respective country post office other collected from web. But I will take risk of sending covers to some.

Second it is currently monsoon in India and it rains very heavily. So just waiting for August as I plan to send some covers; first one will be to EUREKA Nunavut.

If you want me to share this information I will send it to you on email. I will be happy to help friends with same interest and build a good network of collectors.

Jeff, how did you get the TAAF stamps...did you buy them....I saw your blog and it was mentioned that you cannot buy TAAF stamps online but I think it is possible. They have mailing charges of 3 Euros if purchase is less than 25 Euros.

I may try this in future. Do you have any spare TAAF stamps as duplicates for exchange. I can offer equal value mint postcards from China Olympic, Denmark if you like.

Recently LaPoste started offering TAAF stamps through their online shop and I have purchased them there once before. But another way to get them is by ordering them through the mail. Shipping is only 1 Euro for orders under 40 Euro so it is cheaper but you also have to mail or fax your order to them.

At one time I had some extra TAAF stamps but not anymore.

Any idea how to obtain mint German stamps. I have obtained an address source to get letters stamped from German Arctic and Antarctic research but I need 1.7 Euro German stamp on my cover.......

I know that it is expensive to purchase German stamps online from Deutsche Post. You could look for someone willing to trade German stamps on a message board. Or buy some from someone on ebay. Personally, I have not a single German stamp in my collection that I know of.
