RRS Sir David Attenborough

From the British Antarctic Survey's Rothera research station and carried aboard the RRS Sir David Attenborough (the ship pictued on the stamp). This is the first season in the Antarctic for this vessel.

Royal Visit to Cocos Keeling Islands

The 2004 souvenir sheet on this cover from Adelaide Australia commemorates a visit to the Cocos Keeling Islands by Queen Elizabeth in 1954. The islands were transferred to Australia from the UK in 1955. Google street view has fairly good coverage of the islands which surprised me. The population of the two main islands is around 600 which is quite a few more than I thought it would be.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

From Buenos Aires. A 2020 Year of the Rat souvenir sheet on the right. On the left, a stamp commemorating the 100th anniversary of Adrienne Bolland's flight over the Andes Mountains. She was the first woman to do so in 1921. And below that is a stamp from a 2019 sheet about dance in Argentina.

Fairfield Heights, Australia

From the Sydney suburb of Fairfield Height. Lots of stamps on this little cover. Clockwise from top left:

• Aboriginal Crafts stamp from 1987 with a basket weave pattern from Queensland.
• Complete strip of 1980 Nation Stamp Week stamps.  
• Pair of "Waltzing Matilda" Folklore stamps from 1980. 
• Bush Ballad "Clancy of the Overlow" (1889 poem by Banjo Patterson) stamp from 2014. 
• A 2014 special occasions map stamp that could have been paired with a label in a special souvenir sheet. 
• Pale triangle butterfly stamp from 2016.

India-Mexico Diplomatic Relations

From Ahmedabad, India. The top half of a souvenir sheet from 2010. It is a joint issue with Mexico that commemorated 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. 

Chișinău, Moldova

From Chișinău, the capital city of Moldova. The stamp on the left is a Moldovan cheese and dill pie from a series about traditional foods. The stamps on the left are from a series about the months of the year as they relate to farming and agriculture.

John Lennon in New York from Brazil

John Lennon stamps from Brazil featuring an apparently well-known photo of Lennon taken by rock photographer Bob Gruen in 1974. The stamps were issued in January of 2021 to correspond with an exhibition at the Museum of Image and Sound in Sao Paulo featuring photos of Lennon from Gruen's 2005 book "John Lennon: The New York Years".

TAAF, Port-Aux-Francais

From the Kerguelen Islands. Postmarked a few days after the arrival of the Marion Dufresne and the start of the summer season. The stamp in the corner shows a visit to one of the radio relays used for  communications between research teams on the island and the station.

Russian Knights and Swifts, FDC

Stamps commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Russian Aerobatic Aviation Groups "Knights" and "Swifts". The Russian Knights formed on 5 April 1991 and currently fly eight Sukhoi Su-30s. (stamp on the left). The Swifts formed on 6 May 1991 and fly six MiG-29s (stamp on the right).

Northern Lights in Finland

The stamp on the left is the 2017 Europa "castles" issue.  And on the right is the Northern Lights stamp from 2021.

 

TAAF, Martin-de-Vives

From the St Paul and Amsterdam Islands in the southern Indian Ocean.  This was postmarked a couple weeks after the station hand-off from the winter crew to the summer crew. A few cachets covering the back of the envelope. I don't always get TAAF covers with this many cachets. Station activities are documented in their blog.

From left to right, a 1993 stamp commemorating the 100th anniversary of Wageningen University & Research which specializes in life sciences and agriculture, a moth from the Duin en Kruidberg nature reserve 2021 Experience Nature stamp sheet, a dragonfly from the Haarzuilens Country Estate 2021 Experience Nature stamp sheet, and a porpoise stamp from an Endangered Species set issued in 1985.
