French Aviator Roland Garros

This pre-stamped envelope commemorates French aviator and First World War fighter pilot Roland Garros. In 1913, Garros made the first non-stop flight across the Mediterranean from Fréjus, France to Bizerte, Tunisia. Merci François, pour la belle lettre!

Bellusco, Italy

From Bellusco, a town north east of Milan in the Lombardy region. The stamps were issued in Dec 2013: Birds of the Alps featuring the Boreal Owl and White Ptarmigan, and a stamp to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Adnkronos News.

Mariupol, Ukraine

There are two first day postmarks on this cover from Mariupol in the Ukraine. The stamp on the right showing Khan's Palace in Bakhchysarai was issued  24 April 2013 and the pair of stamps on the left which commemorate the Ukraine's History of National Communication were issued on 9 October 2013.

USA Lighthouses FDC

The Portland Head lighthouse in the town of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. It was first lit on 10 January 1791. It was the first lighthouse constructed in Maine and the first lighthouse to be put into service by the government of the United States in 1789.
